ERP or Enterprise Resource Planning systems is an inevitable innovation in the current times for business organizations. However, behind the success of ERP in an organization, the efficacy of a workforce carries a significant weightage. Proficiency in ERP and optimal training is elemental to successful adoption as well as implementation of ERP.
Any kind of inefficiency shall reflect on the organization’s business process. This might include unavoidable delays in the adoption of ERP and followed by an upsurge in costs. Efficient training hence facilitates in avoiding all these risks along with others like breakdowns, errors or similar such technical issues.
To enable successful implementation of ERP training, the below factors must be considered:
- Time allocation in training: Allocating an adequate period of time for ERP training is cardinal. The training session should address all different features of ERP of end-users. A Class room based training must be implemented for understanding the ERP software concept prior to the system’s implementation.
- Super User training: Identifying specific users based on their IT expertise level and planning out a special ERP training for them is pertinent. It shall ensure support to even the end users prior to the deployment of the system.
- Business process highlighting: The session of ERP training must be designed to make it aligned with business processes. It must explicate the daily works of employees, which they must perform using the features of a ERP system. It must comprise of data input into ERP software, extraction of information from system as well as information sharing between users
- Training mode: The capacity to learn might vary among employees. Hence the training on ERP must not be only restricted to only classroom training. The training mode must be diverse and should include user manual, test transactions, video tutorials, presentation slides etc.
